Without a doubt, mini Sessions are popular among families with kids. These sessions are shorter than regular photo sessions and last about 15-20 minutes, which makes them more affordable. If you are wondering if a mini-session is right for you, you’d need to decide if a shorter session in one location with about 10 final images is what you are looking for. For many people it is a perfect choice. But some people prefer a full session which allows more time to get comfortable in front of the camera. In addition full session provides more final photos as well as a few different locations or even outfit changes. I love photographing both and I think it is a personal preference which session is best for someone’s family. For this blog, let’s focus on mini session taken in Wake Forest, NC.
This lovely family decided that a shorter session is exactly what they need to update their family photos. They also used the photos for their Christmas cards! As a Wake Forest family photographer, I know many beautiful locations around town that are a perfect backdrop for fall photos! I captured this session at one of my favorite places in Wake Forest – Joyner Park.
First, this mini session started with a posed photo of all family members, parents and their lovely daughters.
After I take formal photos, I usually take photos of mom and dad together and the children alone.
Lastly, I proceed to capture more candid moments between the family members. I often make them do silly things, have fun together and above all enjoy each other’s company. These are more relaxed photos that show genuine emotions. I advise my clients to even forget they are being photographed, do not look at the camera and just have fun! See for yourself how these turned out below.
